Book in for Hydrostatic Testing to Find Weaknesses and Leaks
Hydrostatic testing (sometimes called Leak or Proof testing) is a way in which assets such as pressure vessel, pipelines, storage tanks and boilers can be tested to find weaknesses or leaks.
Do I Need Hydrostatic Testing?
It depends on the industry you are in. If you are a supervisor, manager or owner of a business that uses some form of pressure equipment (as described above) then you will need to ensure your assets remain in good working order to keep your staff or team safe and save the business costs.
The test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid, usually water, which may be dyed to aid in visual leak detection, and pressurization of the vessel to the specified test pressure. The pressure drop test is reliable and a common test used to determine leaks.
When Should We Use Hydrostatic Testing?
Using Hydrostatic testing on a continual basis means the safety standards and durability of a vessel are maintained. Having this test performed is especially critical for gas pipes. Our experience extends to a number of types of vessels so please call us to talk about how we can provide hydro-static testing for your equipment and assets.
Often, after repairs are complete, we conduct a hydrostatic test to ensure the assets of the business are performing as intended. It is also used for newly manufactured equipment, after repairs and before recommissioning. Hydro-static tests are preferred over pneumatic testing for safety reasons. When it comes to testing gas, it is critical that trained personnel use a customized procedure as gas pressurization is means higher levels of energy is stored in the vessel.
Water jacket testing and direct expansion methods are also forms of hydro-static testing.
